DV Free Ltd. was born out of Stephanie Bofinger’s own personal experience with family and domestic abuse. Ending her 17-year marriage after suffering emotional and verbal abuse from her husband.
DV Free Ltd. is a national not-for profit charity organisation that assists families and individuals displaced by Domestic and Family Violence. We are currently 100% self-funded and run by a dedicated Board and team of passionate Volunteers.
Our primary goal is to promote the prevention or the control of human behaviour that is harmful or abusive to human beings by creating awareness, educational sessions for the public and providing tools to support survivors of domestic violence to rebuild their lives in a sustainable and supported way.
The DV Free aims to create and build a community that is committed to bringing about change in attitudes about domestic and family violence and respectful relationships, including non-physical abuse, and its impacts.
“We can only be a community committed to ending domestic and family violence if we understand and challenge the underlying attitudes, beliefs, practices and systems that condone, justify or excuse domestic and family violence.
“Effective change cannot be achieved unless each and every one of us takes personal interest and engages in promoting healthy and non-violent relationships in our homes, schools, work and the broader community.
“We also need to address the underlying attitudes and cultural beliefs that perpetuate gender inequality, and socialisation that leads to violence against women, men and children.”
DV Free helps those on the ‘front line’, we work not in competition, but alongside these and other organizations, recognizing that our mutual goal is to reduce domestic and family violence.
